Crops, like all plants, require all the nourishment that they need to thrive, from air to soil to water. With that in mind, the hallmarks for a good agricultural product is a product that works well with the natural processes of a crop’s way of sustaining itself, an eco-friendly product that enhances, but not supplants, the capabilities of the plant. This usually involves the usage of various minerals that crops need to thrive. Here are some of them.

Potassium (K)

Potassium is well-known for being found in bananas, a herb that is often associated with fruits. Potassium is important for the movement of water in plants, along with their general nutrition. It aids in the opening and closing of the stomata, which in turn helps regulate the oxygen and carbon dioxide exchange of plants.

Boron (B)

Boron is essential for plants but not needed in large amounts. Boron works together with calcium for cell division. This makes boron important for a plant’s reproductive processes, from seed and fruit development to pollination. Boron also transports sugars, regulates hormones and brings potassium to the stomata.

Zinc (Zn)

The function of the mineral zinc is primarily to produce chlorophyll, which is used by plants to absorb sunlight. As such, zinc deficiency is one of the more overt mineral deficiencies in plants, with discoloring green leaves and yellowing pigments signalling the lack of this mineral in crops. Zinc is also responsible for a plant’s various metabolic functions, ensuring that plants can grow and develop. The best crop nutrition products make sure to combat zinc deficiency in crops, along with other mineral shortages.
